Dateline Victoria, BC - Week of November 29, 2009

This past week I' headed west for a two week stint in BC and Alberta. I flew to Vancouver on Sunday afternoon. Taught there on Monday and Tuesday and then headed to to Edmonton for two days of Excel seminars. Wednesday night I stopped in at the West Edmonton Mall and got a great deal on a new camera. That's Nancy and my Christmas present to each other. I finished the week in Saskatoon and then flew to Winnipeg to spend Friday night and Saturday with Nancy, who is taking a course in Winnipeg next weekend. Satruday night we were hosted to a superb dinner at the home of Brian and Stella Denysuik who are old friends of ours.

Sunday morning I flew to Toronto, got off the plane, did some work in the Maple Leaf lounge and then got on a flight to Vancouver and then on to Victoria. Weird, but it was cheaper to do that than change my ticket and fly from Winnipeg to Vancouver. This week I teach in Victoria on Monday, Vancouver on Tuesday, Edmonton on Wednesday, Calgary on Thursday and then in Mississauga on Friday. Another busy week but the end is in site. I now only have 14 more seminars to teach somewhere in Canada before we shut down for Christmas.

Dateline Vancouver, BC - Week of November 22, 2009

This past week I was around home. I started the week in Ottawa with Excel seminars Monday and Tuesday for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Then it was back to Toronto to do three more seminars for the Ontario CAs on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The good news is that I got some time at home. 

This week I'm back in the west and I flew to Vancouver on Sunday afternoon. Teach here on Monday and Tuesday and then I'm off to Edmonton for two days of Excel seminars. I finish the week in Saskatoon and then fly to Winnipeg to spend Friday night and Saturday with Nancy, who is taking a course in Winnipeg next weekend. Sunday morning I fly to Toronto, get off the plane and get on another one to fly to Victoria. Weird but that was the way I had to do it when I changed my ticket. Seeing the end though as I now have only 19 seminars to teach somewhere in Canada before we shut down for Christmas.

Dateline Ottawa, ON - Week of November 15, 2009

I was in the west last week. Started in Victoria on Monday and then moved to Vancouver on Tuesday. Both days I was doing Excel seminars for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. I had Wednesday off, as November 11th is a holiday in the west. Had a lazy morning and then flew to Calgary after lunch. Went shopping and bought myself a new light leather jacket. Thursday and Friday I was teaching in Calgary for the Alberta CAs. Flew home late Friday night.

This week I start in Ottawa with Excel seminars Monday and Tuesday for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Then its back to Toronto to do three more seminars for the Ontario CAs. The good news is that I get some time at home. Then next weekend I'm back out west.

Dateline Victoria, BC - Week of November 8, 2009

Another busy week last week. I was in Halifax for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia Professional Development week. Did five seminars on Monday through Wednesday to packed rooms. Flew home Wednesday night and did a keynote presentation on Thursday to the CGA Ontario annual conference. Then Friday I did my first seminar for CMA Ontario in their professional development centre in Toronto. It is located right next to the Air Canada Centre so I took the Go Train from Brampton to Union Station in Toronto and then walked through the tunnel to the CMA building.

Today I flew to Victoria to work in the west this week. I'm have a seminar to do on Monday in Victoria and one on Tuesday in Vancouver. Wednesday is a holiday in the west so I'll get to sleep in and then fly to Calgary at noon. Thursday and Friday I'm teaching for the CA Institute in Alberta in Calgary. Home Friday night to spend the weekend with Nancy.

Dateline Halifax, NS - Week of November 1, 2009

The Fall 2009 Accounting Technology seminar series is now in the history books. Without a doubt it was the most successful tour of the 35 we have done in the last 15 years. Attendance was up over 15% and we had 191 people in the audience in Vancouver yesterday on a Saturday. Amazing!. Busy week last week with seminars in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver. I flew home on the red eye Saturday night from Vancouver to spend six hours with Nancy.

Then it was back to the airport to fly to Halifax. This is PD week in Halifax for the Nova Scotia Institute of Chartered Accountants. I'm doing seminars Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then our senior Associate Ward Blatch is doing two on Thursday and Friday. I fly home on Wednesday night and then do a keynote at the CGA Ontario Annual Conference on Thursday and an Excel seminar in Toronto on Friday. 

Dateline Calgary, AB - Week of October 29, 2009

An apology to start. It's Thursday and I am just getting around to writing last Sunday's blog. However, I think I have a valid reason this time for being late. Last week was a wild one. On Monday and Tuesday we did our Accounting Technology seminar in London and Toronto. On Wednesday I flew to Ottawa to do my Power Excel for Simply Accounting seminar. Then it was on to Montreal for the 2009 Simply Accounting conference. Thursday I did a pre conference session. Then Thursday night I flew to London, Ontario to do a presentation at the annual CGA SWAP conference. Being doing this for four years and they are a fun group to work with. Then Friday night it was back to Montreal for the rest of the Simply Accounting Conference on Saturday and Sunday. Did my technology update on Saturday and then was the hit of the costume party Saturday night. I dug out my arab garb from Egypt and went as Sheik Alan.

Flew home Sunday, changed clothes and flew to Winnipeg. Power Excel on Monday and Accounting Tech on Tuesday. Then Nancy and I moved west to do the Accounting Technology seminar in Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, and Vancouver. Exhausting but fun.

Dateline Brampton, ON - Week of October 18, 2009

Busy week last week. Enjoyed a great Thanksgiving dinner with family on Sunday. Monday night I was back on the road to London to do my Power Excel course. Back to Mississauga that night to do it again on Wednesday. Wednesday night I flew to Calgary to host the Alberta CA's technology conference on Thursday and Friday. Great to work with Ward Blatch and my partner Tommy Stephens again. Flew back to Toronto Friday evening to do the Toronto East Accounting Technology seminar on Saturday.

This week is even busier. I do the Accounting Technology seminar in London and Toronto West on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I'm in Ottawa for a Power Excel course. Thursday I'm in Montreal to do a precon seminar at the annual Simply Partnership Conference. Fly to London Thursday night to do two seminars at the annual CGA SWAP conference on Friday. Then it's back to the Simply conference in Montreal for Saturday and Sunday.

Dateline Brampton, ON - Week of October 11, 2009

Last week saw the launch of the Fall 2009 Accounting Technology seminar series. Version 1 was in Burlington. From there we headed east and presented in Moncton, Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa. Great crowds and a great response. Headed back to Brampton on Friday night to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with family.

This week I do my Power Excel seminar in London and Mississauga on Tuesday and Wednesday and then head west to Calgary for the fall Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta Technology conference on Thursday and Friday. It will be good to work with Tommy Stephens (one of my US partners) and Ward Blatch again. I catch the last flight out of Calgary Friday evening to get back to Toronto in time to do the Toronto East Accounting Technology seminar on Saturday. It's our busiest time of the year but it's still fun.

Dateline Brampton, ON - Week of September 27, 2009

Last week I was in the office on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I flew west to do my Power Excel seminar in Vancouver and Kelowna on Thursday and Friday. Friday evening I took the overnight red eye flight back to Toronto. Nancy picked me up at 6:00 am and drove me to mid town Toronto where I did a keynote presentation at the annual CBA conference.

This week I head east to do my Power Excel seminar in Moncton and Halifax. Wednesday Ward Blatch and I are doing a two day technology conference for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia. Home Thursday to do my Power Excel seminar in Burlington on Friday. Busy week but still fun.

Dateline Brampton, ON - Week of September 20, 2009

Home after a long grueling 12 days in Western Canada. Last week I started in Lethbridge, Alberta on Monday and then moved on to Saskatoon, Calgary and Victoria. Thursday I did a keynote at  the CGA BC annual conference. Great attendance and got great reviews. Friday I flew back to Toronto arriving late in the evening. On Saturday and Sunday I sat in on Nancy's real estate course. Sure learned a lot.

This week I'm in the office until Wednesday afternoon. Then I'm back to the west to do my Power Excel for Simply Accounting seminar in Vancouver and Kelowna. Then it's the red eye home Friday night so I can do the keynote at the CBA annual conference on Saturday morning. Another strenuous week but it should be fun.
